Also during this year's awards banquet Joseph Lopardo, vice president of modular building for Williams Scotsman, was acknowledged for his contributions as the outgoing 2010 MBI board president.
"While we are proud to highlight our successes, we'd be remiss if we didn't acknowledge the difficulty we faced as an industry in 2010. Despite challenging economic times, we believe we set a solid foundation that will help fuel future growth in 2011," said Lopardo. "During my term as president, the organization made significant strides on common issues, such as the International Green Code (IGCC). I'm confident that the incoming MBI board will continue to build awareness of our industry and fuel growth across all building sectors in the year ahead."

Pac-Van Takes Away Two Modular Building Institute Awards of Distinction

News from the Modular Building Institute

Each year, the Modular Building Institute recognizes the leaders in the industry by presenting their Awards of Distinction to recognize the best modular projects in the world. The projects are scored in four categories by an official panel of judges. Those categories include: architectural excellence, technical innovation, cost-effectiveness / energy efficiency, and calendar days to complete.
This year’s “World of Modular” conference was held in Las Vegas over the weekend, concluding with the awards ceremony on Monday evening. Pac-Van’s award entries included a large, permanent modular office for a county government facility, a prefabricated medical clinic, twomodular school buildings, and a mobile office with a brick façade.
“We are very pleased with our results in this year’s MBI awards competition,” said Ted Mourouzis, president of Pac-Van, Inc. “These buildings competed for recognition with buildings located throughout North America. Having Pac-Van buildings from both Ohio and Nevada win awards is another indication that customers across the country see the value that modular building solutions can provide. We congratulate our Pac-Van team on these awards and the many other successful modular building solutions we provide to our customers every year.”

About Modular Buildings
A modular building is a factory-built structure that complies with the same building codes as traditional construction. Modular construction is ideal for any application including education and government facilities as illustrated above. They offer the advantages of early occupancy, portability, financial flexibility, and often cost savings. Modular buildings have established a growing niche in the construction process for organizations that need quality temporary or permanent space without the delays often associated with traditional “site built” construction. Modular buildings have also been identified as a more eco-friendly building option for those companies looking to reduce their carbon footprint.
