Modular Classroom Design Tips

Here are some Modular Classroom Design Ideas

Many people ask me about the modular classroom design - in particular if there are ways to improve the acoustics. My answer is always YES!

Modular buildings can have noisy air conditioners and sound from neighboring rooms or playgrounds, etc. can penetrate the standard windows and doors and cause classroom distractions. Here are a few ideas to discuss with your modular building or portable classroom supplier:

1. Request a quiet HVAC system. Bard has its wall mounted QuietClimate series for example.

2. Inquire about upgrading from the standard windows and doors.

3. Request carpet floor covering in place of the typical vinyl tile. Carpet dampens noise.

4. Inquire about upgrading ceiling tiles. There are tiles available that dampen noise and improve insulation - both are worth reasons for upgrading.

Modular Building Help - Handicap Ramps

Handicap Ramp for your Modular Building

Here's a quick tip for anyone planning to use a modular building as a classroom or office. Always check with your local planning department about access for handicap individuals. In most cases you will need a handicap ramp to access the main entrance.

Modular building suppliers can provide you with a price to rent or buy a handicap ramp that meets ADA specifications and fits your modular building and site conditions. The length of the ramp is determined by the height of the bottom of the main entrance door so setting your modular building as low to the ground as possible may save you money and space.

If you have questions ask your local modular building supplier or check with Matt Banes at iModular.com.
