Portable Class Rooms for Sale in California

For anyone in California, interested in Portable Class Rooms

24'x40' and 24'x60' Portable modular class rooms make great spaces for public or private schools, daycare programs, churches and YMCA centers. I've helped several schools buy and sell used models that are in really good condition.

Here are a few tips if you are searching for space to rent or buy and modular is the way you've decided to go.

1. Call your local building and safety department and have the address where you plan on locating the portable class rooms. Ask about obtaining a conditional use permit for the structure. Be prepared to describe how the prefabricated structure will be used, how long it will be on your site and where the closest plumbing, electrical and handicapped equipped bathrooms are/will be.

If you need some help call me at (714) 442-2757 ext 108.

Tip #2 - How to buy or rent a used modular building

Second tip for buying a used modular building

In Tip #1 we covered the important step of looking into the local building and permitting laws for using a modular building in your city. If you didn't read this modular building tip you can read it here.

Tip #2 - Site selection.
After you have discovered city and state guidelines for locating a modular structure on your property or on property you are searching for you should start the planning stage. Here are some steps to follow next:

1. Find a location on your property that has easy access for a large truck and plenty of space for the amount of space you need.

2. If you are going to buy or rent property explain your requirements to your real estate agent and be clear about using a modular building as your type of building.

3. Locate all utilities and meet with an electrician, a plumber (if needed) and a used modular building set up contractor (you can find one by calling a local modular building supplier) to review the site and obtain accurate prices for all utility and installation costs. Note - if you are going to develop a site for long term or permanent use learn everything about the property you can including prior use, soil conditions, adjoining properties and future development plans in the area.

4. Once you have selected the property or identified where the modular will be placed on your property it’s time to move to Tip #3, contacting and choosing the right supplier.

How to buy a used modular building - Tip #1

Things to know before buying a used modular building

Buying or renting a used modular building takes time and research if you want the best value for your money. Here is the first of many up to date tips about finding and buying or leasing/renting a prefabricated modular office, classroom, church building or other commercial structure.

Tip #1 - Know your local building and permitting codes.

Yes, this is very important if you are going to use a temporary or permanent modular structure on your property for human occupants. Your local building and safety and planning departments will have the facts for you so contact them before spending too much time trying to find a modular building first.

In most cases your local authority will quickly tell you what you can and cannot do with a rented or purchased modular building. You will learn about where you can place a modular on your property, for how long, how it can be used and what type of access for people will be required. Issues such as life safety, fire codes and handicap access will all be covered for your benefit.

Once you have a god understanding of the laws governing portable/modular building codes in your city you can then begin the process of planning....that will be covered in Tip #2 on this blog.

Also during this year's awards banquet Joseph Lopardo, vice president of modular building for Williams Scotsman, was acknowledged for his contributions as the outgoing 2010 MBI board president.
"While we are proud to highlight our successes, we'd be remiss if we didn't acknowledge the difficulty we faced as an industry in 2010. Despite challenging economic times, we believe we set a solid foundation that will help fuel future growth in 2011," said Lopardo. "During my term as president, the organization made significant strides on common issues, such as the International Green Code (IGCC). I'm confident that the incoming MBI board will continue to build awareness of our industry and fuel growth across all building sectors in the year ahead."

The Modular Building Institute is a non-profit trade association (http://www.mbinet.org/) that represents the manufacturers, dealers, and suppliers of commercial factory-built structures, a multi-billion dollar industry annually. From classrooms to airport terminals, dormitories to weigh stations, emergency rooms to restaurants, MBI member companies manufacture, install, and service virtually every type of building application, for both temporary and permanent use. The commercial building awards, judged by an impartial panel of experts, were based on the following criteria: architectural excellence, technical innovation, cost effectiveness/energy efficiency, and calendar days to complete.
